Conversation at the Summit with Jay Maisel
I have always been a great admirer of Jay Maisel's work, and was fortunate to attend one of his workshops many moons ago. In this video, he shares his thoughts about what photography means to him and why he always carries a camera with him. Although Nikon sponsored this conference, I thought Jay's message was well worth a listen to.

Oh! So true.
I keep hearing this, and I want to have a camera with me at all times, really I do, but I find myself sadly limiting myself. When I do take a camera it's my K100D or K10D with a zoom because I want to have "the right tool" to catch the pictures I see. That is just too much camera to carry all the time.
I would probably quadruple my list of favorite images if I would just pick up the Coolpix more often on the way out the door. Chase Jarvis' daily I-phone pics are proof enough to me that my biggest limitation isn't the camera, it's the determined will to see and to shoot.
Yes all the best shots are unexpected or unplanned.
I've taken to carrying my k10d+grip and the da 35mm macro, it's a magical little lens, seems to capture light perfectly! With very accurate auto focusing. I also take a sandisk 8gb extreme III sd card so I won't run out of room normally with a spare in the grip just in case.
I rely on my trusty phone camera (Nokia N95 currently), i find it less intrusive over even the tiniest of P&S.
The philosophy is very sound i get more shots when i'm "not" shooting lol
