Ned,

Excellent brochure.

I got the camera Friday, and I am delighted with it. I think it is a big step forward from my excellent K20D.

The IQ is much improved: better color rendition, better white balance, and much closer to what the eye sees.

I love the 100% view finder, faster AF, and better, bigger LCD screen.

Great brochure! However a little bit of cleanup is required wherever images of the K7 are added to the black+grey background, there are white areas, on page 4 (camera left edge) pg 7 (camera top) and others.

Also, higher resolution images would look MUCH better, showing off the K7 images to advantage. Take a look at Pg 14, where the model's hip area shows lots of jpg artifacts. I understand the file size would be larger for high-res images, but thats OK in my opinion.

Just some comments, and I really would love to own a K7.

Ned,

Why are you using Scribd for these documents? I would like to download the PDF file, but don't want to sign up to yet another website. Surely Pentax US has some disk space somewhere that you can leave a PDF file for us to download, no?

In any case, thanks for making it available.

Cheers,

M.

Miserere,

We typically upload this material to our website. I'm simply offering this as an early release.

Quite frankly, signing up at Scribd is no more painful or intrusive than signing up at a site like the NY Times to read all their news articles. I'm just offering Pentaxians an alternate way to get more info about our products.

And to be honest, from a marketing perspective I do get very good analytics from Scribd which helps me better understand where the interest is coming from.

Cheers,
Ned

Ned, thank you very much for sharing your information in this blog, which raised my already great anxiety for the K7 even more.

And I'm happy at last that Pentax' German division finally announced that shipping has commenced!

Hi Ned,

My question concerns the PC sync socket on the K-7, K20D and istD. What is the safe trip voltage for these sockets? Is there any protection to lower the voltage from older flash equipment? Yes, I know the ways around this issue, radio trips and slaves the Wein hot shoe adaptor and others. I have these, but I want to know if it safe to plug older flash equipment directly into the PC socket. If this has been answered before, please point me to the answer. Thank you.

Where can I get those Pentax spare wheel covers like on pg 19?! Now that will be a "bumper" sticker!

Great stuff as always!

Hi Ned,

I was just talking with Kevin from Kirk Photo. I ordered a K-7 plate from them a week ago, but he says they haven't been able to obtain a K-7 to work with. He says they can't get anyone at Pentax to help them out.

I was wondering if it was just an oversight, since I thought you had mentioned that Kirk had received a prototype to work from. But they haven't seen it.

Thanks for being so accessible,

Mike

Does the K-7 support TTL? So it can use the AF-400T properly? Or just E-TTL like the other new DSLRs from Pentax? I have the AF-400T and I love it, but it would be nice with TTL metering.

Mike,
Thanks for the heads-up about Kirk. I really thought we'd already sent them a K-7. I'll check and make sure we get one out to them right away.

Ned,

Thank you for posting the K-7 brochure on your blog!

I am curious about the "composition adjustment". Is it technically feasible of implementing tilt/shift? In conjunction with live view, this might be a cool feature for architectural or landscape work.

Love my K10D and pancake lenses but am seriously considering upgrading.

Hi Ned, I echo the thanks for the brochure posting.

I picked my K7 here in Tokyo and it's truly one sweet combo with the DA15mm.

Nearly everbody is commenting on the hardware, so I'll just say I'm very satisfied so far.

I'd actually like to make a point about the software that comes with the camera -- Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4.

This is the first integrated viewing/processing software from any of the camera manufacturers that I have both found useful and enjoy using (and I'm a longtime hardcore Photoshop guy from the news business).

Somebody's done their homework on this one.

Keep up the good work.

Greg

Ned,

I'm interested in a couple of the technical questions posed above including the one from Terry.

Misere,

Since there was a print button, I just printed it to PDF by using Adobe Acrobat Pro and I had an instant PDF brochure.
